Arrowhead Regional Quality Council Review Coordinator
How did you first get involved with the Quality Council and the Arc?
I actually heard about the position from my co-worker Zoey. I have been working at Arc for about a year as of September 2018 in the Housing Coordinator position. I decided to take the job with the Quality Council because it’s focused on more than just one subject of an individual’s life. I graduated in December 2017 with my bachelor’s degree in Social Work. During college I spent nearly 3 years working for a non-profit in Wisconsin managing the seniors with disabilities program. After that job I completed my internship with St. Louis County in the Developmental Disabilities unit, and then started at Arc Northland right after! I love volunteering and have spent my time volunteering with multiple veteran’s administrations, coached special Olympics, and volunteer at food shelfs.
What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I absolutely love working with people and staying organized! I work great by myself and in a team. Working with Arc is the perfect combination of all of these. I like the hands-on grass roots work, and seeing people smile after we get to help and empower them.
What would you like to say to people who may be reading this for the first time, and to those who are more familiar with The Arc, the State/Regional Quality Council, and other similar organizations?
To the people who are reading this for the first time I hope you can get involved with an agency who works with advocacy, and individuals/families with disabilities. This field is one of the most rewarding. To the people who are more familiar with this field and similar organizations: I’m excited to keep learning and growing with you! You’re accessing this site for a reason so please reach out, ask questions, and stay excited!
