How did you first get involved with the Quality Council and The Arc?
I was involved with the Region 10 Quality Assurance VOICE review system for 10 years. The VOICE review system was a quality assurance licensing system based on what the person said was working and not working. I was very excited about the way this system changed the world for people with disabilities. When Region 10 Quality Council started up there was nothing more important for me to be doing. Nothing more important than improving lives for people with disabiliites based on what they want and need.
What do you enjoy the most about the work you do?
Changing people’s lives for the better. Meeting people. Changing the world!
What would you like to say to people who may be reading this for the first time, and to those who are more familiar with The Arc, the State/Regional Quality Council, and other similar organizations?
Arc SE MN and the State/Regional Quality Council are people first organizations, meaning they put people first in discussions and planning. They are both nonprofit organizations. Arc SE MN advocates for People with Disabilities and families from pre-birth to death.
